Mental Health Services

Developmental Services

Head Start believes that all children - with and without disabilities - should be included in all aspects of our program. Head Start partners with the Washington County Public Schools to evaluate the child’s needs for special education or speech, occupational, or physical therapy.

Services include:

  • Child will be screened in the first 45 days of attending class to see if additional evaluations are needed
  • Washington County Public School birth through 5 team provides special instruction and related services with a current Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) or Individualized Education Program (IEP)
  • Families will be assisted in advocating for their child's educational needs

Mental Health and Behavior Health Services

Head Start promotes mental wellness for you, your child and family. We can provide one-on-one consultation for questions you may have regarding your child’s development or behavior. We will assist you in making a referral to an outside agency for mental health services that is tailored to your specific situation.

Services include:

  • Behavioral screening by teaching team in first 45 days of class
  • Social/emotional questionnaire for parents at child's enrollment
  • Regular on-site consultation with a mental health professional
  • Classroom observations
  • Parenting classes
  • Trainings
  • Discussion groups that focus on behaviors at home

 

PBIS – Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports

Positive Behavior Interventions Support (PBIS) is being used in our Head Start Program. We support our staff and families in constiently using eveidence based practices to promote your children's social and emotional competence.
