Bus Driver

POSITION TITLE:  Bus Driver   (4 openings)

(3) Full-Time / Part-Year – 30 hours/week; 38 weeks/year

(1) Part-Time / Part-Year 15 to 20 hours/week; 38 weeks/year

Substitutes – scheduled as needed

(Will train qualified interested candidates)


LOCATION:              Administration Office, Memorial Blvd., Hagerstown, MD

HOURS/ SHIFT:        Monday thru Friday or Monday thru Thursday

SALARY:                   $16.07 per hour

    (paid in 3 installments)
  • -$250 upon hire.
  • -$250 after successful completion of 90-days of employment.
  • -$500.00 after successful completion of 6 months of employment.



Driver must be at least 21 years of age; possess a Class B CDL driver’s license with a P/S endorsement and an excellent driving record.  A minimum of one year of experience driving a school bus is preferred.  Ability to follow written directions and complete simple forms.  Hold a thorough knowledge of rules of the road and of the Maryland State Motor Vehicle Code, the operation and function of the assigned motor vehicle, and a working knowledge of the geography of Hagerstown and its environment.  Ability to read and understand a map.  Ability to work well with a wide variety of people and to understand and follow instructions.


Responsible for timely and safe transportation of children to and from the Head Start program.  Operates the vehicle safely.  Greets parent and child.  Adheres to all rules and regulations concerning the Maryland Department of Motor Vehicles and as required by the school bus code.
